Princeton Borough Council President Mildred Trotman was recently inducted into the New Jersey State League of Municipalities Elected Officials Hall of Fame.
Mrs. Trotman, a 20-year member of the Borough Council, was installed in a ceremony in Trenton on Jan. 26.
The honor is granted to municipal governing body members who have served 20 years in elected office.
Former borough Mayor Marvin Reed also is a member of the Hall of Fame.
Mrs. Trotman, a Witherspoon Street resident, was elected to the Borough Council in 1984 and is the longest-serving council member.
Borough Mayor Joseph O’Neill said he is grateful for Mrs. Trotman’s dedication to local government.
"It is a pleasure to have Mildred Trotman’s counsel, which is great comfort to me," Mayor O’Neill said at a recent council meeting.
The council members gave Mrs. Trotman a round of applause.
Mrs. Trotman, who said she was quite humbled to receive this award, quipped the council members "should remember all the nice things you say when I call on you" for support on policies or issues at a later time.
