Four informal meetings are scheduled to cover each of the township’s quadrants.
The 2005 Regional Neighborhood Meetings, which begin at 7:30 p.m. will be held at: Port Monmouth Elementary School, located on Main Street and Route 36, March 9; River Plaza Elementary School, located at 155 Hubbard Ave., March 14; Middletown Village Elementary School, located at 147 Kings Highway, March 23; and Hillside Community Center, located at 144 Chestnut Ave., March 30.
Township Committee members and representatives from various township departments are scheduled to attend. Meetings will include a general discussion period during which residents are encouraged to comment about their neighborhood and make suggestions about how life in the community could be improved.
“Neighborhood meetings provide the community with valuable opportunities to meet new neighbors and focus on the specific needs of Middletown’s diverse neighborhoods,” Hall said in a press release. “I hope some residents will spend some time to meet with us.”
Annual neighborhood meetings were first held in the early 1990s and returned to Middletown five years ago as part of a concentrated effort to enhance communication between residents and local government officials. These informal meetings were regionalized in 2003 to maximize attendance but still offer residents informal, convenient access to local officials.
Residents are encouraged to visit meetings that are most convenient for them.
No formal action will be taken at these meetings.
