Arline Clare McMorrow
Mrs. McMorrow, 95, of Freehold, died Feb. 4 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Meriden, Conn., she was a longtime Monmouth County resident and a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church in Freehold. A graduate of Middletown’s Leonardo High School, which opened in the Leonardo section of Middletown in 1913, she trained in 1929 at Jersey City Medical Center to become a registered nurse. While a supervisor of nurses at various hospitals, including Hudson County Hospital for Contagious Diseases and French Hospital in New York City, she was awarded a bachelor of science in nursing education from New York University and also took graduate courses at Jersey City State College and other institutions. She later worked in Minnesota, becoming director of nurses at two hospitals located in St. Paul. When she returned to Freehold in 1964, she worked at Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital as a nurse supervisor and was subsequently employed by the state of New Jersey Department of Institutions and Agencies, for which she evaluated southern New Jersey nursing homes’ use of Medicaid funds. After retiring in 1979, she continued working on weekends as the school nurse at Monmouth College (now Monmouth University), West Long Branch, while volunteering during the week at CentraState. In addition, Mrs. McMorrow was a member of both the Freehold Seniors and the St. Rose Seniors, and a lifetime member of the Western Monmouth YMCA. She was very active as well in various alumni associations. An avid reader, she was also a sports enthusiast who enjoyed attending professional golf and tennis tournaments. She was predeceased by her parents, Clara and George McDonnell, and a brother and sister-in-law, Dr. George J. and Kathryn McDonnell. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, J. Patrick and Barbara McMorrow of Freehold Township, David G. and Kathy McMorrow of California, and George and Cindy McMorrow of Ocean Township; a daughter, Arline Fulton, at home; six grandchildren, including Daniel Fulton of Matawan and Tara and Caitlin McMorrow of Ocean Township; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, 16 McLean St., at 11 a.m. Feb. 21. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, is in charge of arrangements. John Adamsky
Mr. Adamsky, 92, of Eatontown, died Feb. 6 at Liberty Royal Nursing Home, Tinton Falls. Born in Carnegie, Pa., he had been a resident of Eatontown for the past 42 years. Mr. Adamsky was a fifth-grade teacher at Garfield Elementary School, Long Branch, where he was employed 15 years before retiring. Prior to that, he served in the U.S. Army in Panama and during World War II, retiring as a major in 1961 after 20 years of service. He was a member of the Officers Club, Fort Monmouth, Eatontown, and American Legion Post No. 1000, Trenton. Mr. Adamsky is survived by his wife of 62 yeas, Margaret Brova Adamsky; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and John Bergmann of Galloway, and Roberta and Terrence Rettig of Wall Township; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Thomas G. Ketcham
Mr. Ketcham, 53, of Long Branch died Feb. 7 at University Hospital, Newark. Born in Neptune, he resided in Freehold Borough prior to moving to Long Branch. He was a mechanic in the Monmouth County area. He served with the U.S. Army from 1969-80. He was an avid drag racing fan. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen M. Ketcham; two sons, Adam and Matthew Ketcham of Charlotte, N.C.; two stepdaughters, Sherri and Theresa Washington, both of Long Branch; his father, Thomas Ketcham of Toms River; and a sister, Dorothy Jewell of Pennsylvania. Interment was at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold. Arrangements were by Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold.
I. Gerald Olarsch
Mr. Olarsch, 66, of North Port, Fla., died Feb. 9 in Cancun, Mexico. He resided in Elizabeth, Long Branch, and Boca Raton, Fla., before moving to North Port. Mr. Olarsch earned a doctor of naturopathy degree and was founder of Naturopathic Research Labs and developer of Trace-Lyte Electrolytes. He was also an author and speaker on the topic of holistic health. He was predeceased by his father, Morris Olarsch. Surviving are his wife, Joan Rothenberg Olarsch; two sons, Dr. David Gary Olarsch of Plymouth, N.H., and Marc Jonathan Olarsch of Gainesville, Fla.; two grandsons; his mother, Sylvia Berman Olarsch of Boca Raton, Fla.; and a brother, Herbert I. Olarsch of Springfield. Burial was at Elizabeth Jewish Cemetery, Elizabeth. Arrangements were by Higgins & Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, Westfield.
