BRICK — The township’s Republican Club has chosen the three candidates who will run for three Township Council seats in November.

The candidates — Domenick Brando, Joseph Sangiovanni and Daniel Toth — were endorsed unanimously during the club’s regular monthly meeting Feb. 14. Republican Club president Stephen Scaturro said in a press release that all three candidates, and the club’s mayoral candidate, Stephen Acropolis, “are extremely active residents of Brick Township.”

Brando, 37, is a police officer in South Hackensack and owns a construction company, Brando Contracting Inc. He and his wife, Karen, have two sons. Brando has a bachelor’s degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University, is a member of the Planning Board and a certified firefighter and emergency medical technician.

Sangiovanni, 55, owns St. Johns’ Transportation Services Inc., Lakewood, and holds a bachelor’s degree from St. Peter’s College and a master’s degree from Monmouth University. He and his wife, Donna, have two children. Sangiovanni is a Brick Township Municipal Utilities Authority commissioner, municipal chairman of the Republican Party, an Ocean County Vocational-Technical Schools board member and a former Board of Education member.

Toth, 28, owns American Importing and Exporting Inc., a wine, liquor and beer importing and distribution company. He is recently married to Tamara and has a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University. Toth sits on the Zoning Board of Adjustment, is the vice chairman of the Brick Township Municipal Alliance Committee (B-MAC) and an officer in the Ocean County Republican Club.

The three Republican candidates will vie for three Township Council seats that are now held by Democrats — Gregory Kavanagh, Kathy Russell and Fred Underwood. Democratic Committee or Club representatives could not be reached for comment on their Township Council endorsements.

However, Russell said last week that she had not signed off on anything yet and she expects her party to make their choices by April.
