Swimmers from the YMCA of Western Monmouth County distinguished themselves as recent championship meets.
Three members of the Y’s team won individual championships at the New Jersey YMCA 8-Under Championships held at the Ocean County YMCA.
Michael Skibniewski led the local with a trio of wins. He won the 100-yard individual medley, 25 backstroke and the 25 butterfly.
Ryan O’Neill was a double winner, taking the 25 and 50 freestyle races. Sara Grace Johnson won the 25 butterfly.
Shannon Belforti, Sophia Chiang, Peter Durning, Colleen Foley, Janna Han, Johnson, O’Neill and Skibniewski all had top eight finishes.
In the relays, Belfoti, Han, Johnson and Sydney Bornstein teamed up to take second in the 100 freestyle and fourth in the 100 Medley.
Skibniewski, Grant Stahl, O’Neill and Danny Kracke were second in both the boy’s 100 freestyle and 100 medley relays.
In the boys 7/Under 100 freestyle relay, Jack Karklin, Brian Henderson, Durning and Ethan Racsok were seventh.
At the New Jersey YMCA Silver Championships at the Gloucester County Institute of Technology, Abigail Muller and Lauren Uckar led a parade of local winners.
Swimming in the girls 15/18 division, Muller won the 200 freestyle and 200 butterfly. Uckar also was a double winner in the girls 13/14 division. She won the 50 and 200 freestyle.
The other winners were Hillary Stahal, 13/14 200 butterfly; Emily Muller, 11/12 100 breaststroke; Andrew Hiss, 13/14 200 backstroke; Dean Imbemba, 10/Under 50 backstroke; Eric Wang, 10/Under 100 IM; and Evan Scher 10/Under 200 freestyle.
