LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood High School Pupil Assisted Learning Services (PALS) program will hold its seventh annual senior citizen prom, “Moonlight Serenade,” at Lakewood High School on April 3 from 5-9 p.m. Under the direction of PALS coordinators Cathy Lee and Toni Ponti, the students are currently planning the events for the evening.
From designing the program to planning the menu, the PALS students are working to ensure the evening’s success. Lakewood senior citizens will be treated to a night of dinner, dancing and entertainment. The five-course, sit-down dinner will take place in the cafeteria where students, attired in black pants, white shirts, bow ties and cummerbunds, will serve the senior citizens.
According to a press release, the senior citizen prom is a chance for the PALS students to show their appreciation for all that the seniors have done to make the world a better place. Many of the seniors did not have the chance to attend their own prom because of world events during the time. Now they are being given a second chance to enjoy some of the festivities they may have missed out on many years ago.
Wilbur Witteman’s band Musicology will provide live music as the seniors dance the night away. This year’s entertainment will highlight Lakewood High School’s Latin Dance Club students demonstrating their expertise on the dance floor. The Lakewood High School ROTC will present the colors and the flag salute. The Drama Club will also present vignettes from the musical “A Chorus Line.”
Lakewood senior citizens may attend this event by reservation only. Call (732) 901-5724 to make a reservation prior to March 18 between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
