Hadassah schedules women’s symposium

The Southern New Jersey Region of Hadassah will hold a two-day educational symposium, “Women: Mind, Body and Soul” on March 29 and 30 at Forsgate Country Club, Jamesburg.

The first session will begin at 7:15 p.m. on March 29 with a Viennese dessert buffet and coffee or tea. Speaker Judi Franco, co-host of “The Dennis and Judi Show” on New Jersey 101.5-FM Radio, will follow with the keynote address. Franco, a leader in Jewish affairs in her hometown of Long Branch, is well-known for her commentaries on Jewish life.

The all-day March 30 session will get under way at 9 a.m. with registration, a breakfast buffet and orientation. Participants may choose to attend two workshops in the morning. Topics from 10-11 a.m. will include “Women in the Bible,” “Exploring Spirituality Through Music” and “Dem Bones: Prevention and Treatment of Osteoporosis.” Workshops including “The Mystic World of Marc Chagall,” “Meditation and Prayer” and “Women and Heart Health” are set for 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

A dairy luncheon will follow. The afternoon address will feature Ruth Cole, a member of the National Board of Hadassah and executive chairwoman of Hadassah Magazine, and Alan Tigay, executive editor of the magazine, who will explain the magazine’s behind-the-scenes search for news and articles.

Costs is $18 per person for the evening session alone; $30 for the daylong March 30 session; $45 for the complete two-day event.

The public is welcome.
