Elmer D. Hankins

Mr. Hankins, 79, of Freehold Township, died March 10 at his son’s home in Manalapan. Born in the Smithburg section of Freehold Township, he had lived there for most of his life. Prior to retiring 17 years ago, he was a truck driver for Suburban Propane, Howell, for more than 30 years. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he had served in the Pacific Theater of Operations. Mr. Hankins was predeceased by his parents, Jessie Applegate Hankins and Elias Smith Hankins. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, William D. and Karen Hankins of Manalapan; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Reed E. Young of Honolulu; and two grandsons, Douglas J. Hankins and Michael W. Koenigsfest. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Zucker

Mrs. Zucker, 64, of Manalapan, died March 11 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in New York City, she had resided in Manalapan since 1968. Prior to retiring three years ago, she was the owner of Gateway Travel Agency, Freehold Township, for more than 25 years. Surviving are her husband, Arnold; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Larry and Carolyn Zucker of Minneapolis, Corey and Cindy Zucker of Freehold Township, Brad Zucker of Las Vegas, and Eddie and Wendy Jo Zucker of Manalapan; a daughter and son-in-law, Leigh and Mark Kaback of Marlboro; a sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Jules Lennon of North Bellmore, N.Y.; and 10 grandchildren. A funeral service was held at Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, followed by entombment at Mount Sinai Cemetery, Marlboro.

Clint Warrington Sr.

Mr. Warrington, 67, of Allentown, died March 7 at home. Born in Milton, Del., he came to the New Jersey area in the late 1950s to drive horses at Freehold Raceway and other area racetracks, such as Pocono Downs in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. His longtime career involved breaking colts and training racehorses for Hall of Famer Stanley Dancer, among others, and later for Dancer’s nephew, Harold “Sonny” Dancer. He mostly trained for stables in Monmouth and Ocean counties. Surviving are two sons, Clint Warrington Jr., who currently races at Fraser Downs in British Columbia, Canada, and Chris Warrington, who had a brief driving career; a daughter, Joanne Lyons of Missouri; his former wife, Dorothy, of Mansfield; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Funeral services were held at Tilghman Funeral Home, New Egypt section of Plumsted, with the Rev. Gary Hope officiating. Burial was private.

Elizabeth Marge (Woytow) Palumbo

Mrs. Palumbo, 71, of Manalapan, died March 8 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Born in Elizabeth, she had lived in Millstone and Old Bridge before moving to Manalapan six years ago. Prior to retiring, she was an office worker for many years for the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, New Brunswick. She was also a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Old Bridge. Mrs. Palumbo was predeceased in 1988 by her husband, Ralph. Surviving are a son, Ralph Palumbo III of Manalapan; a daughter, Shiela Urbati of Saucier, Miss.; a brother, Stephen Woytow of East Windsor; three sisters, Stella Slocum of Edison, Lillian Wade of Jeffersonville, N.Y., and Violet Bittle of Millstone; two grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge, followed by a funeral Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Old Bridge. Cremation was private.
