I read with great interest the township is now considering revising the master plan for North Brunswick. The development of the Pulda farm should be re-evaluated as part of the plan. It is obvious there is sufficient acreage for this high-density housing to be relocated to another area. We do need affordable senior housing — but not on the Pulda farm.
The North Brunswick Residents Against High Density Housing (NBRAHDH) and many residents have suggested all along that when the J&J land became available, it could be used for this purpose. There is sufficient remaining acreage for both a transit village, additional housing and/or businesses to help meet the state requirements if the township decides it wants to take this course of action.
Yes, we all understand the Pulda farm is under contract to be developed for high-density housing. The NBRAHDH is hoping to prevent this. Instead, why not consider open space for this last bit of undeveloped land?
We certainly need more open space with the ongoing expansion of the Renaissance and proposed development of the J&J. Or at least let the farm become residential in keeping with the surrounding area. The historic home could be preserved and a park could be created by the lake for all residents to enjoy. Traffic congestion would be reduced. Estate homes could attract more commuters. The developer could help in the development of the J&J property or others.
We all know deals have/are made. This would be a win-win situation for the township, developer and residents.
