Princeton Area Community Foundation to present seminar for nonprofits

The Princeton Area Community Foundation (PACF) and Borden Perlman will present a free breakfast seminar for nonprofit directors, senior staff and trustees on "Hot Topics in the Laws Affecting Nonprofit Organizations" on Friday, April 22, from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at Greenacres Country Club, 2170 Lawrence Road in Lawrenceville.
Reservations are required by Wednesday, April 20, to PACF at (609) 219-1800 or e-mail [email protected].
Nonprofits are operating under an increasing level of scrutiny from federal and state regulators, as well as private donors, all of whom are concerned about the prudent use of charitable contributions. This workshop, presented by Pro Bono Partnership, will highlight current "hot topics" in regulations affecting charitable nonprofit organizations and will review policies and best practices for "keeping your house in order."
Discussion will include such topics as conflicts of interest, reporting and accountability to the public, financial and audit committee oversight, fund-raising and revenue-generating activities, and lobbying and political activities.
Presenters will include Jennifer Chandler Hauge, Esq., deputy director of Pro Bono Partnership and author of two texts on personnel policies for nonprofits: "Hiring, Firing and Risk Management" and "Taking the High Road: A Guide to Effective and Legal Personnel Practices for Nonprofits."
Also presenting will be Nancy Eberhardt, Esq., senior staff attorney with Pro Bono Partnership. Formerly in private practice, Ms. Eberhardt provided legal advice on a variety of corporate and transactional matters, with a focus on real estate transactions and advice on environmental issues.
The Pro Bono Partnership works to make it as easy and enjoyable as possible for in-house and transactional counsel to provide valuable pro bono services for nonprofits serving poor and disadvantaged communities.
