We were horrified to hear Sal Duscio refer to children receiving special education and related services as “sick.” This was during public comments at the March 15 Jackson Board of Education meeting. He added that he had “two of them at home who will never be productive members of society.”
As Jackson parents, we take great offense. Children receiving special education and related services are not “sick.” They are precious, worthwhile, valuable, contributing members of our community.
We have heard many people say, “It’s just Sal, you know how he is.” The “it’s just Sal” justification doesn’t work here. Mr. Duscio is seeking to be elected a leader of Jackson’s educational system.
Mr. Duscio’s public disregard for children and disrespect for his own household members clearly demonstrates that he does not have the leadership to support educational endeavors of New Jersey’s fastest growing municipality.
