Two boys charged in bomb threats

HOWELL — Bomb scares at Howell Middle School South, Ramtown-Greenville Road, that started at the beginning of the 2004-05 school year are believed by police to have been the work of two Howell juveniles.

A 13-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy were charged by police earlier this month with making bomb threats on three separate occasions to the school.

The school, which is attended by pupils in the sixth, seventh and eighth grades, received telephoned bomb threats on three dates between October and March of this school year.

According to a police press release, the two youths were each charged with harassment, making terroristic threats, causing a false public alarm and conspiracy to cause public alarm, and conspiracy to commit false public alarm.

According to Detective Lt. Don Neill, in addition to the criminal charges they are facing, the two juveniles are also facing disciplinary action from the school.

Administrators in the Howell school district did not return a reporter’s request for comment.
