A plan to run an ice cream shop in Wildwood earned Manville High School seniors Melody Leach and Mike Chabra spots in the upcoming Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) national competitions in Florida.
"It’s cool that we’re going I’m excited," Melody said.
FBLA is a club for students who are interested in business management, accounting or other business fields and compete regionally and nationally after submitting essays, projects and taking part in community service.
Mike and Melody won second place at the New Jersey state competition in March for their "Business Plan Project," a 30-page proposal explaining how they would run their ice cream shop.
In June, Melody and Mike will travel to Florida to present their proposal to the judges using PowerPoint.
"They have an outstanding presentation. They have a very good chance of winning the nationals. The proposal gives a nice flavor of New Jersey," Nancy Ostazewski, the FBLA adviser and business
