LETTERS: Re-elect Speesler, Nathanson

To the editor:

Over this past term, we have had the opportunity to view how many of our elected officials have served our community and what obstacles they are willing to face as well as overcome. What continues to ring true are the outstanding performances of Barry Nathanson and Matt Speesler.
As a long-time member of this community, I have had the opportunity to see this township grow exponentially in the number of children in our schools. At the same time, due to economic constraints, our representatives have had to find unique and challenging ways to maximize the available taxpayers’ dollars and meet the growing needs, while not compromising the high-quality education that our children deserve.
During this past term, both Mr. Nathanson and Mr. Speesler, have shown that they not only have the talent to confront the demanding issues that plague our education system, but they have provided innovative solutions that are often taken for granted.
I have had the good fortune of watching Mr. Nathanson wear numerous hats; including member of the Board of Education, member of the Executive Board of the Police Athletic League, a multiple-sport coach and a counselor. What do all of these venues have in common — our children of course.
There is no better way to convince me of the commitment that an official has then to watch him or her show their support to our children and the community then when the political focus is off of them. Mr. Nathanson has not just done this during the political part of his career, but has been performing diligently for many years prior.
So as I continue to show support for Barry Nathanson and Matt Speesler, I urge you to look past the upcoming election strategies and look at what the candidates have done outside of the spotlight, for our kids and the community in which they serve.
