Opera spokesman to address 55PLUS

"The Formation of an Opera Company: Passion, Drive and Ingenuity" will be the topic of a presentation by Scott Altman to 55PLUS at the men’s club meeting to take place Thursday, April 14, at 10 a.m. at the Jewish Center of Princeton, 435 Nassau St.
Formed in the summer of 2002, New Jersey Opera Theater aspires "to achieve national recognition for the excellence of its artistic and educational product, acclamation for its artistic integrity, recognition of its creative, innovative approach to arts education and respect for its business practices."
Scott Altman, artistic director, will describe the birth, history and progression of the nonprofit arts organization. Joining him will be key members of New Jersey Opera Theater: Lisa Altman, executive director; Bob Teweles, board president; Michael Recchiuti, principal conductor, and Amy Butterworth, soprano-New Jersey Opera Theater Apprentice Artist.
Mr. Altman will discuss his responsibility for the integrity of all things artistic relating to the company’s goals — how they interrelate as part of the company’s mission and future planning.
Also described will be the life cycle of a production from day one to final performance, and planning performance choices taking into consideration the audience and the region.
In addition to his role as Artistic Director, Mr. Altman is stage director, lyric bass and a private voice instructor/coach (formerly with Princeton University). He has performed numerous roles at New York City Opera and throughout the United States.
Since 2002 he has devoted himself to his role with New Jersey Opera Theater, assuming responsibility for the artistic integrity of the company and overseeing all artistic personnel.
