BORDENTOWN CITY
Police charged a 31-year-old city man with contempt of court and possession of drug paraphernalia on April 1 after officers spotted him sifting through trash left for curbside pickup, police said.
According to the report, officers found James McCulley of West Street going through trash on Walnut Street around 5:50 a.m. Police said officers patted Mr. McCulley down and found a hypodermic needle in his pocket.
Police said Mr. McCulley was wanted on a $755 contempt of court warrant issued by North Wildwood and an $893 contempt warrant out of Mansfield. He was turned over to Mansfield police later that day.
Police charged a Trenton man with shoplifting March 31 after they say he walked out of Boyd’s Pharmacy on Farnsworth Avenue without having paid for a bottle of rum.
Police said security cameras recorded Ernest Knighten, 42, put a liquor bottle in his coat and leave the store without paying around 12:30 p.m. that day. Officers found him outside the store and charged him, releasing him on his own recognizance later, police said.
BORDENTOWN TOWNSHIP
Township police are searching for a Trenton man who is accused of assaulting a man at the Bordentown Motel on Route 130 North and stealing $13 at 5:32 p.m. on March 30.
Reyes R. Gibbs, 22, is wanted by police for allegedly entering the motel room of his mother’s boyfriend and striking him with his fists, police said. Mr. Reyes hit the man in the head with a jar of jelly, causing severe bleeding that later required seven stitches, police said.
Mr. Reyes then stole $13 in cash from the man and told him to stand in the bathroom shower or he would kill him, police said. The man stayed in the shower for 45 minutes before calling the police, according to reports.
Police officers checked the area surrounding the motel for Mr. Gibbs, but could not find him, police said.
A township woman was charged with driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident after police said she drove through a red light on Route 206 at Maple Avenue and hit another car at 11:02 a.m. on March 27.
When police arrived, they spotted Barbara Trebotica, 50, of Wyndham Court sitting in a tan Ford F-350 and another driver got out of a beige Dodge Stratus, police said.
As the officers tried to put out the fire coming from the Dodge’s engine, Ms. Trebotica hit the Dodge again and sped away from the scene down Route 206 South, police said.
Police chased her for about three miles before her car died on Route 545 by Clifton Mills Drive, police said. When officers restrained her, Ms. Trebotica’s eyes appeared bloodshot, and an odor of alcoholic beverages was detected in the car, police said.
An unopened bottle of Gordon’s gin in a brown paper bag was found inside the car, police said.
Ms. Trebotica was also charged with assault by auto, eluding police, resisting arrest, and several motor vehicle violations, police said. She was released after posting $25,000 bail, police said.
FLORENCE
Police charged an 18-year-old township man with driving while intoxicated, underage intoxication and careless driving at 1:25 a.m., Sunday.
According to police, officers responded to a call of a fight on the 900 block of Broad Street that night and found Richard Bingham of Cedar Lane changing a flat tire on his 1998 Hyundai. Police said officers noticed that the rim was damaged and questioned Mr. Bingham about it. Police said he admitted to striking a curb somewhere nearby.
The fight, police said, proved to be just the loud voices of some people at the scene and not an actual altercation.
Officers smelled alcohol on Mr. Bingham’s breath, police said, leading officers to charge him with the drinking-related offenses. He was released on his own recognizance, pending a court date.
Officers noticing a car driving over the sidewalk and into the Broad Street Wawa store parking lot on a flat tire last week charged a 22-year-old Beverly man with driving while intoxicated and related offenses, police said.
According to the report, Nicholas Ahrens entered the lot near midnight on April 1, catching the eye of nearby officers. Police said the officers checked out the situation and found Mr. Ahrens had been drinking and also driving with an opened bottle of alcohol. Police charged him with DWI, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, reckless driving and driving an unsafe vehicle.
No one was in danger when the car drove over the sidewalk, police said. Mr. Ahrens was released on his own recognizance, pending a court date.
Police charged a North Carolina man with receiving stolen property and possession of drugs after officers checked out a suspicious vehicle call at a Route 130 garage on April 1.
According to police, officers were sent to check out a man sitting in a parked car in the lot of Roy’s Garage that night. Officers found 22-year-old Jamar Cameron there. Police said Mr. Cameron had a stolen North Carolina driver’s license and three small bags of marijuana in the car, plus rolling papers.
Police also charged Mr. Cameron with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on his own recognizance pending a court date.
