MANVILLE – Stephen J. Barnosky died Thursday, March 31 at Raritan Health & Extended Care Center in Raritan.
Born in Hillsborough Township, he had lived in Manville before moving to Colorado 33 years ago.
Mr. Barnosky was employed at Johns-Manville and moved with the company to Colorado in 1972. He served in the United States Navy from 1942 until 1945.
He was a recipient of the Asiatic-Pacific and American Theatre Ribbons. He also received a Victory Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern 2 Stars and a Good Conduct Medal.
He was an Exempt Fireman with Manville Fire Company No. 3 and was a coach for Manville Little Leagues and basketball teams.
He is a life member of the Thomas J. Kavanaugh, VFW Post 2290 in Manville and a life member of the Manville and Littleton (Colo.) Elks where he was very involved in all of their fund-raising activities.
Mr. Barnosky was predeceased by a sister, Dolly Barnosky; and three brothers, Nick, George and Joe Barnosky.
Surviving are his wife, Helen (Wisniewski) Barnosky; three sisters, Olga Piscadlo, Mary Gorbich and Helen Litwinetz; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held April 4 from Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, Manville followed by a funeral liturgy at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Manville. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough.
