Montgomery paves way for Kid Connection fee hike

MONTGOMERY — The Township Committee approved an ordinance Thursday that will raise Kid Connection fees for the next school year by about 10 percent — more than double the increase of recent years.
According to the ordinance, full day care for five weekdays would go up about $540 per year per child to $5,943. But tuition varies depending on the number of hours — or days — enrolled.
The trend over the past few years has been that Kid Connection fees have increased by about 4 percent annually, said Township Chief Financial Officer Randy Bahr.
The program, which offers full-day, half-day, morning and afternoon care to children 3 years old to third grade, enrolls about 200 children, Director Laure Scasserra estimated.
