Club’s infant, child CPR course slated for April 30

  • The Middletown Newcomers Club will offer a class in infant and child CPR certification April 30 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Middletown Public Library, 55 New Monmouth Road. The course will provide skills training and hands-on practice, and upon completion, participants will receive a certification card from the Red Cross and a laminated skills guide. The class is limited to 20 participants. Cost is $28 for nonmembers and $25 for members. Preregistration is required and may be done by calling Nicole at (732) 778-0873 or Dorothea at (347) 623-0658.

    April 22 for casino trip

    The travel group at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown, will sponsor a trip to Tropicana Casino, Atlantic City, April 26 from 9:15 a.m. to 7 p.m. Reservations must be prepaid by April 22. Cost is $20 which includes a show by singer Finis Henderson, and $10 in cash. The bus will depart Mater Dei High School, Cherry Tree Farm Road, New Monmouth.     for ‘Jukebox Jamboree’

    The nonprofit Rainbow Foundation, Middletown, will hold a “Jukebox Jamboree” April 30 at 6:30 p.m. at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2179, 1 Veterans Lane, Port Monmouth section of Middletown. The Rainbow Foundation has provided “financial first aid” to more than 12,000 New Jersey children, and proceeds will benefit needy children of New Jersey. The event will feature dinner, beer, wine, soda, dancing, a gift auction and a 50/50. Music of the ’50s-’70s will be performed by Cisco’s Disco. Dress is casual or in costume. Tickets are $30 in advance, and $35 at the door, $15 for children 7-16, and free for children age 6 and younger. For tickets or more information, call the Foundation at (732) 671-4343.

    scholarships by May 13

    The Middletown Lions Club has announced it will offer three $500 scholarships to graduating high school seniors that are Middletown residents. Deadline for application is May 13.
