To the editor:
I have had the pleasure of working with Barry Nathanson through South Brunswick PAL for the past seven years, where he is an executive board member. The dominant quality I see in Mr. Nathanson is his commitment to the community, more specifically his commitment to the youth of our community.
This is a man who has been a very active member of both the Board of Education and the SBPAL board and through the interaction of both roles he gives enduringly to the children of our community. Along with the time commitment these two boards require of Mr. Nathanson, he remains a caring and active husband, father and coach.
The thing that strikes me most about Barry Nathanson is that he’s not out there looking for the glory, doing the "high-profile jobs" to get noticed for his actions. He takes on the duties that go unnoticed to most people, but that are integral to the smooth running of programs in our community. For example, he gets involved in the scheduling of facilities so their use can be maximized and all groups are able to benefit. If it needs to be done, you can count on Mr. Nathanson to take it on.
Mr. Nathanson observes, he questions, he listens and when he puts it all together, he acts on things to ensure the right things are being done by and for our youth. He’s visible and approachable, which are two very important characteristics for a board member.
As a parent of four children in the South Brunswick school system, it is reassuring to me that I have someone I can speak to when necessary feeling confident that I am being heard.
Barry Nathanson is a man who cares about our entire community and gives of himself for the greater good of his community.
I urge you to get out and vote Tuesday for Barry Nathanson. Rest assured he will be out there working for your kids and our community.
