BREAKING NEWS: Monroe voters support $69.9 million school budget.

MONROE – Voters in Monroe approved a $69.9 million school budget Tuesday by a vote of 2,802 to 2,052.
The spending plan increases school taxes by 2.96 percent, raising the tax rate 5.14 cents to $1.785 per $100 of assessed valuation. Under that rate, the owner of a house assessed at the township average of $153,900 can expect to pay $2,747.73 in school taxes, an increase of $78.73.
In addition, incumbents Joe Homoki, Kathy Kolupanowich and Kathy Leonard all were re-elected to three-year seats on the school board. Ms. Kolupanowich received 3,009 votes, Ms. Leonard 2,989 and Mr. Homoki 2,916.
