Elizabeth G. Litten, a lawyer with the Princeton office of Fox Rothschild, has been named one of "New Jersey’s 50 Most Influential Players in the Political Healthcare Arena" by HealthSense Inc. A coalition of New Jersey business owners and benefit managers concerned about the soaring cost of health benefits, HealthSense compiles the list annually. Selected as number 25, the highest ranking lawyer on the list, Ms. Litten was cited for her advocacy, and regulatory and legal prowess in her work with private health-care concerns. She has focused exclusively on health-care issues for the about 14 years during which she has practiced.
Counted among the 200 largest law firms in the nation, Fox Rothschild is a full-service firm with offices in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and New York. The local office is located in Lawrence.
Mason, Griffin & Pierson marks the 50th anniversary of its founding this year. Initially located on Nassau Street, the firm is now located in Princeton Townshipand has additional offices in Pennington and Flemington. It has transformed from a general law practice to a firm with eight different practice groups. Mason, Griffin and Pierson represents numerous municipalities in Mercer, Somerset and Hunterdon counties, and it has represented Princeton Township for more than 50 years.

Carolyn Sanderson has been promoted to managing director of U.S. Trust. In her new role, she will manage business development and private-banking activities in both the Princeton and Morristown offices. In addition to her continuing role as charitable giving strategist for the firm’s affluent clients, she will oversee marketing, advertising and promotional initiatives for the region. With the firm since 2001, she has nearly 25 years of banking, sales and management experience, with a focus on private banking and charitable giving. She is based in the company’s Princeton office.
Ms. Sanderson serves as the president of the board of trustees of Trinity Counseling Service and is on the board of the Princeton Healthcare Foundation. She resides in Pennington with her husband and three children.
The Princeton office of Amper, Politziner & Mattia, Certified Public Accountants and Consultants, has announced that the following individuals have joined the firm:
John A. Cromley Jr. and Gina Loh, both as senior accountants in the audit and accounting department; and Andrew Santamaria, as senior accountant in the tax department.
Yardville National Bancorp announced that George D. Muller has been named to the board of directors. Well-known in the Hunterdon County business community, Mr. Muller brings to YNB a long list of banking and business credentials. The president of Flemington Glass for 35 years and the director of Flemington National Bank & Trust Co. for 35 years, he served as chairman of the business-development board of Carnegie Bank before joining YNB. A lifelong area resident, he lives in Raritan Township with his wife, Linda.

Nova Nordisk’s Plainsboro office recently announced the following in its newly aligned department of clinical development, medical and regulatory affairs:
The promotion of Mary Ann McElligott to associate vice president of regulatory affairs. In her new role, Dr. McElligott will provide leadership and strategic oversight to four newly established functional groups focused on favorably positioning the company’s products for rapid approval and life-cycle management in an ever-changing and increasingly complex regulatory environment.
With the company since 1996, Dr. McElligott has held positions of increasing responsibility and has been instrumental in securing an increasing number of approvals by the Food and Drug Administration for the company’s key diabetes, hemophilia and hormone-therapy products. She lives in the Princeton area.
Marcus Eugene Carr Jr. was appointed executive director of clinical research/hemostasis. Dr. Carr will direct and oversee all hemostasis clinical development activities in North America and will work in close collaboration with research institutions in the United States and with colleagues at Novo Nordisk’s corporate offices in Denmark.
Dr. Carr will continue teaching internal medicine, pathology and biomedical engineering in Virginia and plans to relocate to the Princeton area with his wife, Sheryl, and four children.
Bartholomew J. Tortella was appointed to clinical director/trauma and critical care in the CMR department. He will be responsible for clinical research in trauma and clinical care in the United States. Dr. Tortella joins Novo from Merck & Co. Inc., where he was associate director of medical services responsible for global manufacturing and quality assurance efforts. Dr. Tortella lives in Newtown Square, Pa., with his wife, Judge Maureen F. Fitzpatrick, and son, Lucas.
Novo Nordisk has a broad diabetes product portfolio, including advanced products in the area of insulin delivery systems, hemostasis management, growth hormone therapy and hormone therapy for women. With headquarters in Denmark, its local office is in Plainsboro.

Susan Young, president of Susan Young Media Relations Inc., has been named 2005 Entrepreneur of the Year by the Edison Chamber of Commerce. A native of Edison and five-year member of the chamber, her company helps businesses, non-profits and professional associations raise their name recognition through print, radio and TV news, as well as handling media outreach and crisis communications. Ms. Young lives in East Brunswick with her husband and their two children.
Compass Healthcare Communications, a full-service agency, announced the addition of two new staff: Stephen Pearson, account manager, with more than 10 years of interactive marketing experience; and Jamie Picone, project manager, who has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for eight years. The Princeton-based online marketing agency serves the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and medical-device industries exclusively.
