On March 22 I attended the Township Committee meeting in Freehold Township in order to express my strong objections to the changes in the scheduled hours of operation at the township recycling center.
The new hours are a drastic cutback, which will be a hardship on all residents as well as an environmental disaster.
After thinking about who attended the meeting and what was said at the public portion, it appears that the reason for the cutbacks in days of operation at the recycling center has to do with a labor dispute.
The township needs to settle this dispute in a fair and equitable manner. The residents of the township are being used as pawns and not receiving the level of services that an environmentally conscious community should receive.
