Anthony J. “Perdue” Perri Jr.

Mr. Perri, 49, of Long Branch, died April 18 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Long Branch, he was a lifelong resident. He was a machine operator at the local establishments Coast, Fiore, and E & L paving companies. He was predeceased by his father, Anthony Perri Sr. in 2002. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Deborah Chavez Perri; a son, Anthony “A.J.” Perri III of Long Branch; his mother, Mary Perri of Eatontown; and a sister, Diane Kraatz of Newark, Del. Visitation will be April 21 from 6-9 p.m. at Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch. A funeral service will follow at 8:30 p.m.

Catherine “Kitty” Dougherty

Mrs. Dougherty died April 6. She was born in Hoboken, and later retired to Monmouth County. She was a retired employee of Chase Manhattan Bank, New York City. She was a member of the Poplar Village Club, Oakhurst section of Ocean Township. She enjoyed travel. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Dougherty; her first husband, William Clancy; two sisters, Margaret “Ethel” Quinn and Mary McGuire; three brothers, Patrick, Daniel and Joseph Carmody; and a niece, Eileen Carmody. She is survived by a brother, Thomas George Carmody of Boonton; a stepson, Rev. Damien Dougherty (Franciscan) of Illinois; three nieces; and several grandnieces and grandnephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Church of the Precious Blood, Monmouth Beach. Interment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Robert A. Gerhold

Mr. Gerhold, 88, of Shrewsbury, died April 6 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., he had been a resident of Shrewsbury since 1951. Following his graduation from Cooper Union School of Engineering, New York City, with a degree in electrical engineering, Mr. Gerhold’s career of 43 years included 28 years with the Army Electronics Research and Development Command, culminating with the position of deputy director of the Microelectronics Divisions Electronics and Devices Laboratory at Fort Monmouth. He pioneered the development of automated assembly of electronics and printed wiring assemblies, provided directions for various research and development programs, and served on several electronics industry committees. He authored and presented several papers, including a contribution to the 1975 McGraw-Hill Electronics Engineers’ Handbook. Following his retirement in 1979, he served as a consultant to the Army. Mr. Gerhold was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Red Bank, where he served as an usher, council member, first lay president of the church council, and on several ministry teams. He was chairman of the Troop Committee of Shrewsbury Boy Scout Troop 250; a member of the Shrewsbury Senior Homesteaders; and a member of the Monmouth County Chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Mr. Gerhold is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mildred; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Doug Alt of Ocean Township; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Bette Gerhold of Houston; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, followed by interment at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. The John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, was in charge of arrangements.
