In the wake of the impending retirement of Municipal Manager William Guhl, Township Council unanimously agreed Wednesday night to appoint Chief Financial Officer Richard Krawczun as the next municipal manager.
The council approved a five-year agreement with Mr. Krawczun, who will start his new duties July 1. The agreement expires June 30, 2010. The 45-year-old Mr. Krawczun will retain the position of chief financial officer. He will earn $145,000.
Mr. Guhl, 58, is retiring after serving as municipal manager for 13 years. He had previously worked for the state Treasury Department, the City of Trenton and as Mercer County administrator.
Township Council praised Mr. Krawczun, who was appointed to the position of chief financial officer in 1994 by Mr. Guhl.
Mr. Krawczun, a Lawrencia Drive resident, was the only candidate to apply for the position of municipal manager. The council decided not to conduct a search for Mr. Guhl’s replacement after Mr. Krawczun made it known that he was interested in the top administrative post.
