LETTERS: Parties in need of rejuvenation

To the editor:

I read with interest the article in last week’s Cranbury Press concerning only one candidate filing for the Cranbury Township Committee seat this fall. I have a suggestion that may produce a better result in the future.
Both Mr. Klein and his Democratic Party counterpart should announce to the public that on a certain day, in a certain place, at a certain time, their party will interview anyone interested in receiving their nomination. It is, of course, possible that no one will show up. It is also possible that so many residents would be interested that both parties would end up with good candidates and enough people left over to run an effective campaign.
Both parties would be rejuvenated, a result that would benefit the whole town.
There are many residents who have an interest in politics. But Cranbury can be a tough town to break into. It is the obligation of both political parties to offer us a way in.
