Karla Schossberger

Karla Schossberger of Princeton died April 17 at University Medical Center at Princeton. She was 93.
Born in Vienna, Austria, she and her late husband, Charles, owed their lives to the village of Seignes, France, in the Auvergne, where they lived during World War II, and before emigrating to the United States with their children in 1950, to be close to their surviving extended families.
After retiring as a knitwear designer for Jantzen Sportswear, she became an active volunteer with Starfish in River Edge, where she lived for 42 years before moving to Princeton, where she became a volunteer with Grand Pals.
She was a member of Temple Sholom in River Edge.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in law, Catherine and Robert Raphael of Princeton; son and daughter-in-law Marc and Lilia Sadoux of Atlanta; grandchildren Ivar Raphael and Todd and his wife, Gina Raphael, all of New York City; stepgrandchildren Danny DeAguero and Fernando and his wife, Allison DeAguero, all of Atlanta; and many extended family members.
Arrangements are by Louis Suburban Chapels, Fair Lawn.
Ralph E. Osborne
Retired from Forrestal Center
HIGHTSTOWN Ralph E. Osborne died Thursday at University Medical Center at Princeton. He was 92.
Born in Litchfield, Conn., Mr. Osborne was raised in Trenton, lived in Ewing for 20 years, West Windsor Township for 44 years and in the Meadow Lakes retirement community for the last three years.
Mr. Osborne was assistant to the director of Princeton University’s Forrestal Research Center, retiring in 1977 after 39 years.
Husband of the late Lorraine M. Osborne, he is survived by sons Jeffrey Osborne of Flemington, Daniel Osborne of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Hugh Osborne of Holland, Pa.; sister Dorothy Willett of Grass Valley, Calif.; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter and great-grandson.
Funeral arrangements were private and under the direction of Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, Princeton.
Dr. Frank Rathauser
Retired surgeon
EWING Dr. Frank Rathauser died Monday at Greenwood House. He was 91.
Born in Newark, he was a Trenton resident for many years before moving to Lawrence Township.
Dr. Rathauser was a retired surgeon.
A graduate of Lafayette College and New York University Medical School, he served his residency at Mount Sinai Hospital and practiced general surgery.
In 1958, he completed his fellowship in pediatric surgery at Philadelphia Children’s Hospital and returned to New Jersey to become the first pediatric surgeon in the state.
He was on the medical staff of University Medical Center at Princeton and Capital Health System’s Mercer and Fuld campuses for many years before retiring.
He served in the Army Medical Corps during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Ronnie Hans Rathauser of Lawrence; sons and daughters-in-law Dr. John and Diane Rathauser of South Brunswick and Dr. Robert and Dr. Debra Rathauser of Montgomery; daughter Bette Rosenberg of Woodbury, N.Y.; and grandchildren Andrew, Evan and Amy Rosenberg and Daniel, Jonathan and Benjamin Rathauser.
The funeral is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, 1534 Pennington Road, Ewing.
Burial will follow in Ewing Cemetery.

Lucille A. Gruszczyk
Retired nurse’s aide
WEST WINDSOR Lucille A. Keane Gruszczyk died Thursday at Bear Creek Assisted Living, West Windsor. She was 84.
Born in Jersey City, she was a Hillsborough resident for 38 years before moving to West Windsor 10 years ago.
Mrs. Gruszczyk was a nurse’s aide at Foot Hill Acres Nursing Home in Neshanic, retiring after 14 years.
She was a member of St. David the King Church.
Daughter of the late John and Ellen Jackson Keane, she is survived by her husband, John J. Gruszczyk; daughter and son-in-law Mary Ellen and Jeffrey King of West Windsor; granddaughter Jennifer King of West Windsor; and many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were by Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, Princeton.
