Plainsboro to observe 26th Founders’ Day on May 1

   Plainsboro Township’s 26th annual Founder’s Day Celebration will take place on Sunday, May 1. The yearly community celebration commemorates the incorporation of the township on May 6, 1919.
   The event will kick off with a parade through town to the festival grounds at the municipal center.
   Scheduled to depart from Waters Edge Park on Pond View Drive at 12:30 p.m., the parade will travel Edgemere Avenue to Plainsboro Road (at the Dey Road intersection), then follow Plainsboro Road to the municipal center.
   Following opening ceremonies at approximately 1 p.m., residents will be able to participate in a variety of activities, as well as to enjoy live entertainment.
   Featured performers include Mad Science; Give & Take Jugglers; jazz ensembles from WW-P High Schools North and South; the Society for Creative Anachronism, and performances by Korean and Chinese dancers.
   The Plainsboro Historical Society will open Wicoff House with displays highlighting local history. Games for "children of all ages" and food concessions sponsored by local nonprofits will also be featured.
   The festivities will conclude with a family concert led by the popular Daisy Jug Band.
   The Founders Day Celebration will be postponed only if it is raining in the morning and forecasted to continue all day. Program changes will be announced on local radio stations as well as the Recreation Department information line, (609) 799-0909, Ext. 2. The rain date is Saturday, May 7.
