Dave Gregory, who was in second place behind Cat Manzi in the driver’s standings at Freehold Raceway, has returned to action. The harness driver had been out of action since his Jan. 14 at Freehold when his horse, Avacal Hope, fell because of interference, unseating Gregory from his sulky. Gregory broke his left hip in the fall. Doctors told the driver he would be out of action for four months, but through sheer determination, he was back in three. He started his comeback practicing at Gaitway and Showplace, driving in qualifying races.
He was back in full swing on April 16, driving at Yonkers, and back at Freehold on April 20.
