Celebrate the recovery with local merchants
By: Mae Rhine
Most of the area’s businesses have reopened for business after the devastating flooding that swept over this area earlier this month.
Some will offer sales and extended hours to draw customers.
To make it easier for customers, parking meters are bagged until Sunday, May 1, making free parking available to all.
Our local businesses have had a tough year and a half. They lost money while the New Hope-Lambertville free bridge was closed for repairs for six months. A few months later, Hurricane Ivan caused flooding and severe damage.
Seven months later, the most recent flooding put them back again.
The free parking is being hailed as an effort to let everyone know Lambertville and New Hope are "back in businesses" and to invite them to help "celebrate the recovery."
Residents can do their part by shopping locally. For example, Mother’s Day is just around the corner. Why not buy something special for Mom from a local business?
We know residents have had a tough time cleaning up, but so have our businesses. Please support them.
