I am so pleased to say spring is finally here.
April may have brought some spring showers, but those May flowers seem to be appearing sooner than we expect.
The best way to enjoy the warm weather is with a glass of nature’s most perfect food milk.
This special recipe is for those of you who do not necessarily like the taste of milk. These "double strawberry milksicles" provide you with the calcium and other nutrients you need to develop strong bones and a healthier body.
You could actually live off just milk products because it contains all of the necessary vitamins and nutrients an individual needs to survive and be healthy.
I challenge you to consume at least three dairy products a day. To add to the variety of dairy treats that are available, try making your own milksicles as one of those three servings of dairy products you need a day.
Double Strawberry Milksicles
1 10-ounce package frozen strawberry halves in syrup.
1 cup low-fat milk.
½ cup fat-free strawberry frozen yogurt or strawberry sorbet
8 2.5-ounce freezer pop molds.
8 freezer pop sticks.
Partially thaw berries at room temperature for 10 minutes or microwave on high 10 seconds.
Place partially frozen strawberries with liquid in container of a blender.
Add milk and frozen yogurt. Cover and blend until smooth.
Pour into freezer pop molds. Place freezer pop sticks in centers. Freeze until firm.
Yield: 8 servings.
To enjoy a variety of colors, make red, white and blue milksicles. For blue pops, substitute frozen strawberry halves with 1 (10-ounce) package frozen blueberries.
