BRHS golf after spot in states

The Bordentown Regional High School coed varsity golf team moved one step closer to clinching a spot in the state tournament with a 171-225 win over McCorristin at Hanover on Tuesday.
Bordentown’s Eric Timm was the medallist with a score of 39.
"It was another qualifying round. He (Timm) has one more to go to qualify (for the state tournament) as an individual," said Bordentown Coach Rob Shappell.
Meanwhile, George Benson (42), Matt Rodenbaugh (44) and Chris Mallett (46) all shot good scores too.
"We had no problems at all (winning). It was a beautiful day, but it was even nicer when we walked back to the bus with a ‘W’," noted Shappell.
The Scotties combined for a 365 score at Monday’s Burlington County Open at "The Links."
"Overall, I was pleased. It was cold and it was windy. It definitely was not (top) golf conditions," said Shappell.
Benson was Bordentown’s top scorer with an 89 (18 holes). Meanwhile Timm shot a 90, Mallett shot a 92 and Rodenbaugh recorded a score of 94. Bordentown’s Lauren Nucera posted a 96.
Last Friday Bordentown beat Pemberton, 170-185, at Hanover. Timm fired a 40. Benson (41), Rodenbaugh (44) and Ryan Pina (45) also scored for the Scotties.
Shappell believes Timm, Benson, Nucera and Mallett all have good shots at qualifying for states as individuals. However, Bordentown (7-4) wants to get in as a team too. Bordentown is scheduled today to host Burlington Township today (Thursday) and Burlington City on Tuesday.

For those who have not previously played it, the Links Country Club Golf Course can be an unforgiving one. That’s why Mike McGovern was pleased that his Northern Burlington County Regional High School golf team was able to finish in the middle of the pack at Monday’s Burlington County Open Golf Tournament.
"It wasn’t bad. We came in 12th or 13th out of 20," said McGovern.
"It was hard to play because it was windy and that was a tight course."
When a Greyhound hit a ball a few feet off-line, left or right, it created major problems. So McGovern was happy with his players’ scores, which were mostly in the 90’s (18 holes).
NBC started the week off with a 180-226 win over McCorristin at Falcon Creek Golf Club on April 20.
NBC’s Matt Doan and Ryan McGoldrick led the way with identical scores of 43. Garrett Beebe and Chris Barbera each shot a 47 in the win.
Moorestown beat NBC, 143-184, on Thursday.
"They (Moorestown) were one stroke under par," said McGovern.
NBC had entered the match wanting to stay within 30 strokes of Moorestown. However, with Moorestown’s incredible score that was not to be. Nonetheless, McGoldrick did shoot a solid round of 44.
On Friday at Miry Run, Steinert beat NBC, 204-254 (five golfers counted). Doan (47), McGoldrick (47), Beebe (50), Barbera (51) and Steve Ferrera (59) all scored for the Greyhounds.
"We got crushed," added McGovern, whose club is 5-5. NBC was scheduled to have played at Holy Cross yesterday (Wednesday). NBC is scheduled at Moorestown on Friday.
