Milltown recreation plans upcoming events

  • The Milltown Department of Recreation will offer a variety of upcoming events for both residents and nonresidents.
  • An excursion to American Girl Place, New York City, is planned for June 24. The bus will depart at 11 a.m. from borough hall, Washington Avenue. Lunch is set for 2:30 p.m. Show time is 4 p.m. Cost is $70 per person.

    The rec office will offer a trip to the 4:05 p.m. New York Yankees vs. Kansas City Royals baseball game at Yankee Stadium on Aug. 27. Tickets cost $60 and include bus transportation and game seats.

    Registration is now going on for the Milltown Summer School-Age Child Care (SACC) program. A full-day summer schedule with a five-day or three-day option will be offered at two sites. The program includes indoor/outdoor play, swimming, snacks, arts and crafts, bus trips, lunch outings, special events and more.

    Residents and nonresidents are welcome to participate in all programs.

    Milltown Recreation’s Youth Art Odyssey is the borough’s April Artist of the Month. Artwork by youngsters in the program’s winter session is on display at borough hall, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Mondays-Fridays.

    La Leche League

    plans May 4 meeting

    La Leche League of South River, a support group for expectant and nursing mothers in Middlesex and Monmouth counties, will hold its monthly meeting at 10:30 a.m. on May 4 at the South River Library, 55 Appleby Ave.

    Topic will be “Great Expectations: Breast-feeding Benefits Everyone.” Babies, new mothers and mothers-to-be are welcome.

    The group shares information on parenting and mothering choices with mothers in South River, East Brunswick, Spotswood, Monroe, Jamesburg, Old Bridge, Sayreville, Matawan and Aberdeen.
