The South Brunswick High School Project Graduation Committee has just a few more fund-raisers left before the big event in June.
However, the group has raised only about half its goal so far.
Project Graduation is a night of drug- and alcohol-free activities that follows graduation, set for June 21 this year.
This year’s event, to be held at The Falls in Mount Laurel, will feature laser tag, mini-golf and bumper boats, as well as an airbrush tattoo artist and various giveaways. The event is free to seniors.
The committee’s goal is to raise $35,000 for Project Graduation and have some money left over to leave as a nest egg for next year’s event.
Other fund-raising events include one today (Thursday) from 4 to 10 p.m. at Chevy’s in Lawrence. Patrons who bring the Project Graduation flier with them will get 20 percent of their bill donated to the event.
Project Graduation Committee member LouAnne Wolf stressed that people must bring the flier, which has coupons on it, with them in order for the donation to be made.
Those interested in attending who do not have a flier can get one at the Community Center at Woodlot Park on New Road.
The flier also is good for a fund-raiser at Fuji Hibachi Steak House and Sushi Bar in Liberty Mall on Georges Road. From May 8 through 12 and May 15 through 19 from 5 to 9 p.m., a percentage of patrons’ bills will be donated to Project Graduation.
"You must also bring the coupon," Ms. Wolf said.
Project Graduation also will get 15 percent of sales of Indulge jewelry made at the high school’s spring music concert. On May 18, there will be a table set up at 6:30 p.m. at the high school and jewelry will be on sale until the concert begins at 7:30 p.m.
"It’s beautiful jewelry. I just bought something," Ms. Wolf said.
The last major fund-raiser will be a golf outing at Bunker Hill Golf Course May 27. The deadline to reserve a spot for the outing is May 16. Participation costs $95 per individual or $360 per foursome. There are 144 spots available. Participants will get a golf shirt, golf cart rental, breakfast, lunch and prizes.
Shotgun tee-off will be at 7:30 a.m. For information or to reserve a spot, contact John Goodwin at (732) 672-9562.
In addition, PNC Bank on Georges Road in Dayton is donating $10 for every new checking account that is opened and Project Graduation is mentioned. This fund-raiser will continue through June 1.
Community members also can still sponsor a high school senior by making a donation in that student’s name. For information or to make a donation, contact Melanie Flagg (732) 274-0857.
