Registration for summer programs through May 5

  • The South Brunswick Department of Parks & Recreation will hold summer registration for “Kinder Parks” for children in kindergarten and first grade, and “Summer Parks” for grades two through six, May 5 from 6:30-9 p.m. at the South Brunswick Senior Center, Route 522, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick. Nonresidents may register two days before programs begin, space permitting.

    • The township has implemented a lottery system as follows:

    • Numbered wristbands for the lottery will be distributed at the community center weekdays April 27-May 3 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; April 27, 28 and May 2 from 7-9 p.m.; and April 30 from 1-4 p.m. Individuals should leave the ticket portion with the person distributing the wristband, and retain the wristband for registration May 5. Individuals without wristbands will not be able to register until those with wristbands have been processed.

    • The lottery will be drawn May 4 at 2:30 p.m. in the recreation office, and numbers will be posted at the Community Center in the order in which they were selected. In-person registration will begin May 5 at the senior center:

    • Participants will register May 5 in the order of lottery selection.

    • Residents must bring or wear a wristband to registration with child’s name written on the back. Lost wristbands cannot be replaced.

    • The first 50 numbers drawn will register between 6:30-7 p.m.; the next 50 from 7-7:30 p.m.; and the balance will be called beginning at 7:30 p.m., until no additional wristbands are called. Individuals without wristbands will be processed last, at approximately 9:30 p.m.

    Policies to remember are: one number per family; individuals may only register immediate family (unlike previous years, individuals may not register friends); the person must be present to register at the time his or her number is called; registrants must have all portions of the camp registration form completed legibly before arriving (a separate form is required for each participant); for before- and after-camp care, registrants must use the full-page registration form on page two in the brochure (there are minimum numbers required to run these programs); and cash or check only will be accepted as payment, (no credit cards), with checks payable to South Brunswick Township (leave amount blank until told the total).
