Township Council introdues $1 million bond ordinance for street projects.

Township Council introduced a $1 million bond ordinance last week that paves the way for the township’s 2005 road program.
The money raised by the bond ordinance would pay for an overlay of asphalt on Andrew Drive, Bromley Court, Edith Drive, Lawrencia Drive, Melvina Drive, Rich Court and Theresa Drive in the Lawrenceville Greene subdivision. That work is slated for either August or September, Municipal Engineer Christopher Budzinski said.
Also slated for asphalt overlay are Garden Road, Orchard Lane, Sunset Road, West Church Road and West Long Drive in the Long Acres section of the township, adjacent to the Municipal Building. A $150,000 state Department of Transportation grant, included in the bond ordinance, has been earmarked for that project, which should start in July, Mr. Budzinski said.
The township Department of Public Works will take on the overlay project for several other streets at a future date based on the department’s schedule, the engineer said.
The public works department will apply a thin layer of asphalt to Little Circle, Pembroke Court and Wexford Drive, Holly Lane, Ivy Glen Lane, Laurelwood Drive and Woodbury Lane, as well as Charles Way and Hopkins Drive, off Denow Road, Mr. Budzinski said.
Basin Road and a portion of Cold Soil Road between Blackwell Road and Carter Road are slated for pavement and road repairs. The bond ordinance also includes money for similar work on Princeton Pike, between Franklin Corner Road and Darrah Lane. Portions of the streets will be reconstructed, he said, adding that those projects will be bid out to contractors. Work will take place in August or September.
