An exhibit of “deep sea” paintings by Bonnie McKee Tortora will be at the Rumson branch of Rumson-Fair Haven Bank May 4-25.
Tortora paints colorful, stenciled layers of drifting jellyfish and other sea life forms, which seem suspended in transient, gravity-free water space. Her artistic process includes oil, acrylic and melted wax that is applied to the canvas in an abstracted, repetitive pattern.
This is Tortora’s seventh solo show. She has exhibited in numerous galleries, including Kent Place School Gallery in Summit, City Without Walls Gallery in Newark, and The Monmouth Museum in Lincroft. Her work is in the public collection of McGraw-Hill Publishing Co., New York, in addition to numerous private collections.
The Rumson branch is located at 20 Bingham Ave., where hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.
