The State Theatre, 15 Livingston Ave., New Brunswick, has scheduled the following performances.
The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra will perform April 28 at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $25-$60. The Grammy Award-winning orchestra will be joined by violinist Gidon Kremer, under the baton of Maestro Yuri Temirkanov. The program will include Kancheli’s “Lonesome,” Debussy’s “La Mer,” and Maurice Ravel’s “La Valse.”
Itzhak Perlman, accompanied by pianist Rohan De Silva, will give a solo recital April 30 at 7 p.m., with tickets $100, $70, $60 and $40 (concert only), or $325 for a benefit gala patron ticket (concert seat and dinner-dance).
Perlman will perform Mozart’s Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 21 in E Minor, K. 304, and Beethoven’s “Kreutzer.” Following the performance will be a celebration at the Hyatt Regency New Brunswick with a black-tie dinner featuring the music of the Kenny I Orchestra. Proceeds support the theater’s artistic and educational programs.
The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater will perform May 3 and 4. The troupe will perform “Night Creature,” “Treading,” “Shining Star” and “Revelations” May 3, and “The Winter in Lisbon,” “Vespers” and Revelations” May 4. Tickets are $18-$55.
An evening of music with Donny Osmond is set for May 5, with tickets $25-$35.
“Smokey Joe’s Café” will be performed May 6 at 8 p.m. and May 7 at 3 and 8 p.m. The show features the hits of the ’50s and ’60s. Tickets are $22-$52.
“Vienna, Budapest, Paris: A European Operetta Extravaganza” will be presented May 15 at 3 p.m. The event will feature music, dance, and comedy, with highlights from the operettas “Die Fledermaus,” “The Merry Widow,” and “The Czardas Princess.” Songs will be sung in English, German and Hungarian. Tickets are $25-$47.
B.B. King with guest Guy Davis will be in concert May 18, with tickets $25-$65.
