PLAINSBORO The township recently launched a video bulletin board and a redesigned Web site to keep residents in the loop when it comes to community and government news and events.
The video bulletin board on cable Channel 3, shared with the West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District, now provides information on events and services the township offers.
There are no plans to televise Township Committee meetings, according to Committeeman Michael Weaver, liaison to the Cable Advisory Committee.
"We did a survey and asked the community what they would be most interested in seeing," Mr. Weaver said. "At our usual township meetings, we get low attendance, so we thought (the cable channel) would be better used for safety information or maybe educational information for the Audubon Society."
More programming may be added in the future, according to Mr. Weaver. Mayor Peter Cantu is expected to participate in a regular program relating to government activities and programs.
"As we go forward, we are willing to assess the township’s needs," he said.
The redesigned Web site provides more extensive information about accessing municipal services and provides links and information on a variety of community organizations and affiliated government agencies.
Through the Web site, users can access the municipal code book, take a virtual tour of the new Village Center and visit the Plainsboro Sept. 11 Memorial Park.
