SAVE, Princeton’s animal shelter, rolls out the red carpet on Saturday, May 21, for its fifth annual benefit, "The Pet Jet Set," at Princeton Airport on Route 206, Montgomery.
Guests can expect a glamorous 1940s theme inspired by "The Aviator," complete with uplit airplanes, palm trees, 1940s music by The Boogaloo Kings, and a fashion show featuring Ralph Lauren couture for pooches. Attire is 1940s elegant.
"This will be an event to remember," promises Sara Nicolls, SAVE’s CEO, "featuring all the excitement and theatrics of The Aviator, and the elegance and glamour of the 1940s, right down to a Hollywood-style red carpet leading guests into a festively decorated hangar. And because SAVE was founded in the 1940s, the evening will serve as a fitting tribute to the two forward-thinking women who defined the Princeton area’s unflinching commitment to saving abandoned cats and dogs."
"The Pet Jet Set" runs from 6:30 to 11 p.m. Tickets cost $150 per person.
The menu, by Main Street Catering, features appetizers of brie bites, lump crabmeat salad, cheddar and apple quiche, applewood-smoked duck breast, smoked salmon pinwheels, and stuffed red globe grapes, followed by spinach salad for the first course, herb-crusted rack of lamb and filet of sea bass with mustard sauce for the main course, and layers of lime custard, mango mousse and strawberry and kiwi salsa for dessert.
This year’s annual benefit is co-chaired by SAVE board members Pauline Egan and Carol Hillenbrand.
