LAMBERTVILLE A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Monday to mark the official opening of the city’s new senior housing development, Heritage Village at Lambertville.
Even though the residence opened officially just this week, about 20 residents already have moved in, according to Betsy Palilonis, community manager for Heritage Village. And about 100 applications for the remaining 67 apartments for senior citizens have been distributed, she said.
Heritage Village is comprised of 10 two-bedroom apartments and 77 one-bedroom units. Rent for a two-bedroom apartment ranges from $920 to $1,115 a month. Rent for a one-bedroom unit ranges from $770 to $840 a month. Apartments range in size from 650 to 950 square feet. Features include appliances and air conditioning.
The complex also features a community and meeting room, a fitness center, a wellness room, a library and laundry facilities. The facility also features a sundeck. A community garden will be tended by residents.
"Heritage Village was designed with the overall objective of providing a dignified residence to seniors living in Lambertville and surrounding communities," said Christiana Foglio, president of CIS, the Bordentown firm behind Heritage Village. "In order to provide the highest quality housing at an affordable cost, we rely on partnerships with state agencies and financiers to develop these opportunities."
Applicants must meet financial eligibility requirements. The maximum income limit is $38,640 for a one-person household and $44,160 for a two-person household.
"Heritage Village meets Lambertville’s growing demand for quality senior housing for our residents who outgrow their homes but want to stay within their community," Mayor David Del Vecchio said. "The Route 518 location is the ideal place for this development since it fits our overall Smart Growth strategy for the city."
The apartments are available to Lambertville residents as well as others in the region. The property is located at 258 Brunswick Ave., also known as Route 518. It is approximately a half mile from Route 29.
"New Jersey is home to more than 1.4 million senior residents," Mayor Del Vecchio said. "These individuals serve as vital members of our families, neighborhoods and communities. Now, with Heritage Village at Lambertville, we can offer the seniors of Lambertville and neighboring communities, who are challenged by the cost of home maintenance, taxes and utilities, an attractive independent living alternative and help them stay close to home and family."
People who are interested in touring the site or in obtaining an application should call the office as soon as possible at 397-2256.
