Philomusica schedules three upcoming concerts

  • Philomusica Choir, an auditioned choir of more than 40 voices, will perform Duruflé’s “Requiem” in a concert titled “Voices of the Spirit,” 8 p.m. on May 7 at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 801 W. State St., Trenton, and 8 p.m. on May 14 and 4 p.m. on May 15 at Our Lady of Peace Church, Route 130 north/Washington Place, North Brunswick. Sites are wheelchair accessible.
  • The concerts also will feature the Schütz Passion motets, Kodaly’s “Pange Lingua” and Gorecki’s “Totus Tuus.”

    Conductor will be Dennis Boyle. Organist is Cleve Kersh.

    Melendez concert to aid

    World Youth Day trip

    St. Thomas the Apostle HSA and the World Youth Day Pilgrims will present Tony Melendez and The Toe Jam Band in a concert set for 7:30 p.m. on May 22 at the school, Route 18 south, Old Bridge.

    Tickets will be available after Masses on May 14 and 15 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Cost is $5 for youngsters, $10 for adults.

    Proceeds will help defer the cost of sending St. Thomas youth to Cologne, Germany, for the upcoming World Youth Day 2005, where they will see the new pontiff, Pope Benedict XVI.

    Refreshments and souvenirs will be sold during intermission at the concert.

    Yom Hashoah program

    Congregation Anshe Emeth of South River and Young Israel of East Brunswick will host a Yom Hashoah program beginning at 8 p.m. on May 10 at Young Israel of East Brunswick, 193 Dunhams Corner Road.

    The event will feature Jack Ratz, author of “Endless Miracles.”
