Paul A. Urbani
Paul A. Urbani died April 27 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton. He was 94.
Born in Trenton, he was a resident of Lawrence for more than 60 years.
Mr. Urbani attended Trenton schools, Drexel University and Michigan University.
Mr. Urbani served during World War II in the U.S. Army as a master sergeant.
Upon his discharge in 1946, Mr. Urbani contacted his family in Italy to realize his business plan to bring truffles into American kitchens.
The Urbani family has had a passion for truffles stemming back to the Middle Ages with Mr. Urbani’s ancestors gathering the product from the fertile mountain valleys of central Italy. This region which surrounds the city of Spoleto and the neighboring town of Scheggino is still Mr. Urbani’s family’s home.
Mr. Urbani created the Urbani Truffle Company, and sold both fresh and preserved truffle products to the chefs, hotels and restaurants in American during the next six decades. He worked hard for many years to develop a successful business importing Urbani family product lines.
A highlight of his career was providing truffles for President Richard Nixon’s inauguration dinner. This practice was continued by President George H.W. Bush who served Urbani truffles at state dinners.
Mr. Urbani had a lifelong involvement in his community was affiliated with numerous local organizations.
He began relationship with the Mount Carmel Guild in 1977. He became a member of the Guild’s board of trustees, in 1979 was elected vice president and in 1980 became president, a position he held for eight years.
For over 40 years, he had served on the board of directors for Roma Bank. A parishioner of St. Joachim’s Church, he had served on the Parish Council, the School Committee, and was chairman of the Finance and Capital Improvement Committee.
He also held membership in the Trenton Chamber of Commerce, Roman Hall Sportsman Club, Lawrenceville Italian American Civic Club, Societa Romana Di Mutuo Society, the Classical Gourmet International Society, Culinary Institute of America, Chefs de Cuisine Association of America, Culinaire Philanthropique Society of New York and served on their board of directors, Italian American Chamber of Commerce in New York City, Les Amis d’Escoffier Society Foundation, Fraternity of St. Claire Bernardino Society, Mycological Societies of Boston and San Francisco, and the World Trade Conference.
He also was a member of American Legion Post #93 in Trenton and D.A.V. Chapter #41 in Hamilton.
Son of the late Vincenzo and Gina Magi Urbani, husband of the late Margaret Natale Urbani and Zofia Zak Urbani, brother of the late Iris Craparo and Vincent Urbani, he is survived by his wife Angela Urbani; a brother, Alex Urbani of Hamilton; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday at St. Joachim’s Church in Trenton.
Entombment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Mount Carmel Guild, 73 N. Clinton Ave., Trenton, NJ 08609.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, Lawrence.
Joseph D. Vecere
Joseph DiGiacomo Vecere died April 27 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Langhorne, Pa.
He was 85.
Born in Stamford, Conn., he resided in Lawrence for 42 years.
Mr. Vecere was a retired agricultural researcher with American Cyanimid in West Windsor. He retired in 1985 after 40 years of service.
He was an avid professional gardener.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and participated in the invasion of Normandy. Mr. Vecere was awarded the Purple Heart and Combat Infantryman’s Badge.
Mr. Vecere was a member of the Church of St. Ann and a member of the Lawrence Township Senior Citizens Club #1.
Son of the late John and Mary DiGiacomo Vecere and husband of the late Josephine Forte Vecere, he is survived by four daughters, Marlene Wiseman, Diane Iezzo, Gail Deinhardt and Anna Goldman; and a son, Christopher J. Vecere. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Victoria, Alexander and Nicholas Wiseman and Naomi and Aliya Goldman.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday in the Church of St. Ann.
Entombment was in the St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Mr. Vecere’s memory be made to the Church of St. Ann, Faith Development Center, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 09848.

Minnie R. Caro
Minnie "Min" Radlinsky Caro died Friday in Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton.
She was 92.
Born in Lawrence, she was a lifelong resident.
She retired after 30 years of service with General Motors’ Inland Fischer Guide Division where she worked on the Avenger airplane during World War II.
She was a parishioner of the Church of St. Ann and a member of the Altar Rosary Society and also was a member of Lawrence Township Senior Citizens Club #2.
Ms. Caro was the daughter of the late Joseph and Frances Petrovsky Radlinsky, wife of the late Rosario Caro and sister of the late Joseph and John Radlinsky, Emma Dzilsky, Kathryn Robinson, Frances Debiec and Ann DeVaul.
She is survived by her sisters, Sophie Diehl, Mary Anderson, Helen Ratkowski and Rose Persicketti; a brother, Paul Radlinsky and his wife Georgette; and many nieces and nephews including Doris Persicketti, Mary Radlinsky, John Radlinsky, Paul Radlinsky and his wife Ann, Tom Radlinsky, Bill Radlinsky and his wife Lisa, Bill Diehl, James Piccineth and Jim Robinson.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday at the Church of St. Ann.
Burial was in Fountain Lawn Memorial Park, Ewing.

Mark K. Young
HILTON HEAD, S.C.Mark Kevin Young, 44, died April 26 at Hilton Head Regional Medical Center.
Born and raised in Lawrence, he had resided in Hilton Head Island since 1993.
Mr. Young graduated from Lawrence High School and attended several police academies.
He was an avid pigeon flyer.
He is survived by his parents, William and Mildred Zelma Young, formerly of Lawrence, who now reside in Hilton Head Island, SC; his two children, Samantha Young of New Jersey and Kevin Young of Beaufort, S.C.; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Also surviving is his longtime girlfriend, Heather Squires of Hilton Head Island, S.C.
Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors in Lawrence.
Burial was in the Lawrenceville Cemetery.

Henry C. Woods Jr.
MONTGOMERY Henry C. Woods Jr. died Thursday after a brief hospitalization at University Medical Center at Princeton. He was 84.
He taught English for 35 years at The Lawrenceville School.
He was a Navy flyer during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Cheney Woods and many nieces and nephews.
Services were private under the direction of Cromwell-Immordino Memorial Home, Hopewell.
