Skate Day 2005 slated for May 14 in Old Bridge

The Old Bridge Public Library will host Skate Day 2005 from 1-5 p.m. on May 14 at Veterans Park, Old Bridge.

The event will feature entertainment by local bands Enjay, Section 1211, Michael Delacruz and Ascendant. Members of the United Skate Shop Skate Team, Old Bridge, will offer an introductory skateboarding course and a skating demonstration. There will be a “make-it-take-it” table, where participants will learn how to make their own skull cap/beanie.

In addition, 20 teens will be chosen to compete in a Design-A-Deck competition. Each teen will be given a blank deck to design, and the winner will go home with $50 cash. Participants in the contest will be chosen by a random drawing. All interested individuals should place their name in a ballot box at either the Old Bridge Public Library Main Branch, Route 516 and Cottrell Road, or at the United Skate Shop, Route 516, also Old Bridge.

All are welcome. The event will be held rain or shine.

Library garden club plans May 14 plant sale

The Old Bridge Library Garden Club will sponsor a plant sale beginning at 11 a.m. on May 14 at the library main branch, Route 516 and Cottrell Road.

A variety of plantings, including perennials, seedlings and more, will be available.

Proceeds will support the club’s upcoming programs.

Kitchen Things Sale next up for auxiliary

The Raritan Bay Medical Center Old Bridge Auxiliary will sponsor a fund-raising Kitchen Things Sale from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 5 in Auxiliary Hall C, lower level of the Medical Arts Building, adjacent to the hospital’s Old Bridge division, off Ferry Road, between routes 9 and 18.

Vendors sought for flea market/craft show

Vendors are sought for the Immaculate Conception Knights of Columbus Council No. 4907 Columbiettes Flea Market/Craft Show set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 21 in the Immaculate Conception Church parking lot, Manalapan Road, Spotswood.

Spaces cost $15.
