Chevy Chase tapped for Princeton University Class Day

Comedian Chevy Chase has been selected to deliver the keynote address at Princeton University’s Class Day ceremony scheduled for May 30.
Mr. Chase was selected by leaders of the senior class from among nominees suggested by classmates.
"We watched Mr. Chase throughout our formative years, with his movies becoming part of our collective memory and shared sense of humor," class leaders wrote in an e-mail to seniors.
Mr. Chase is one of the founding members of television’s "Saturday Night Live." He worked behind the scenes as a writer and in front of the camera as the "Weekend Update" anchor, earning Emmy awards in both writing and acting for his efforts.
After SNL he moved to Hollywood, where he starred in films like "Caddyshack," the "National Lampoon’s Vacation" series and "Fletch" series. He is known for his trademark deadpan comedy style and his commitment to family movies, the university said.
A graduate of Bard College, Mr. Chase was valedictorian of his high school class.
Class Day takes place on the day before Princeton’s Commencement. Members of the graduating class organize the event. In addition to Mr. Chase’s address, the ceremony will include remarks by class members, the induction of honorary class members, and the recognition of class members for their contributions.
The Class Day ceremony will be held on Cannon Green, weather permitting, at 10:30 a.m. It is a ticketed event for seniors and their invited guests, with limited standing room and unticketed simulcast sites available in McCosh Hall unless severe weather forces the ceremony inside, the university said.
