Friends of Homeless Animals in Princeton is hosting a fundraising event that will have guests kicking up their heels with their pet, that is. "An Afternoon for Paws" will be held on Sunday, May 22, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Upton Pyne Estate, located at 67 Ravine Lake Road, Bernardsville.
The highlight of the event is a guest appearance by Patie Ventre, founder of World Canine Freestyle Organization LTD. Ms. Ventre is the creator of the program, "Dancing with dogs is fun for you and your dog." Ms. Ventre has appeared on "Animal Kingdom," among other venues.
"This event is meant to be fun and entertaining, but the object is to raise critical funds for the completion of Phase II of Friends of Homeless Animals’ adoption and education facility," said Susan Landmesser, event chair and FOHA board member. "The facility will serve as a transitional home for perfectly wonderful, adoptable animals that have been neglected and abused."
Ms. Landmesser, who owns an array of adopted animals from horses to llamas, as well as household pets, will open her 180-acre estate to create an event that is "over the top" but promises to be fun.
In addition to the performance by Patie Ventre, there will be wine and catering by Laurence Craig of Distinctive Celebrations, music, and an auction. The auction will feature animal-oriented items, including deluxe animal homes made by select artists in the community.
Tickets are $100 per person. Sponsorships are available. Contact Sally Hayman at (609) 921-8133 or [email protected] for more information.
