MONTGOMERY — The mood will likely be jubilant at the 1860 House when the Montgomery Center for the Arts presents "Art of Wine Tasting" on Friday.
The program, to be held 7 to 9:30 p.m., will feature between 75 and 110 different kinds of wine, both imported and domestic, said Sandy Mironov, owner of Towne Wine at the Montgomery Shopping Center. Towne Wine will be sponsoring the event, with all proceeds to benefit the Montgomery Center for the Arts.
"There is a centuries-old tradition and art to the making of great wines," said Frances Chaves, arts center executive director.
"Wine lovers should come and discover the art of wines at the 1860 House," Ms. Chaves said. "They’ll enjoy a festive evening of wine and food — and benefit our education programs at the same time."
Wines from Italy, Australia, New Zealand, France and South Africa will be among those available to savor. There will be California wines as well, said Mr. Mironov.
"We like to do it because we want to support the community and the culture of Montgomery," Mr. Mironov said. And, he added, "I think the people really enjoy it."
Mr. Mironov said he agrees with Ms. Chaves that there absolutely is an art to creating and tasting wine. Aside from the fact that tasting it is fun, he said, there are other virtues to pampering your palate.
"Wine is very personal. It’s like art, everyone has a different style," Mr. Mironov said. "It satisfies personal wants and needs."
To complement the beverages, appetizers and desserts from area restaurants and caterers will be featured, arts center officials said. Participating businesses include Cibo Ristorante & Café, Tiger’s Tale, Tillie’s Kitchen, Tokyo Sushi, Whole Foods Market and Babette’s.
Works by local artists will also be on exhibit, organizers said.
"I am always delighted to work with our neighbors at the Montgomery Center for the Arts," Mr. Mironov said. "The 1860 House and its beautiful grounds offer such a gracious and beautiful environment for this event."
Mr. Mironov said more than 100 people attended last year.

Advance tickets are $30 for arts center members and $35 for non-members. Tickets at the door are $35 for members and $40 for non-members. For more information, call the arts center at (609) 921-3272.
