The Borough Council unanimously introduced a bond ordinance amendment adding two new streets for resurfacing at Monday’s council meeting.
"The borough ended up paying less money than they thought they would and are using the leftover money to resurface additional roads," said Gary Garwacke, borough administrator.
The borough bonded $1.7 million to pay for resurfacing roads in the Lost Valley through a previous ordinance adopted on March 24, 2003.
The entire project ended up costing $1.2 million, so th4e bond ordinance amendment adds Louis Street and Knopf Street, two streets that were not included in the previous ordinance.
It adds Louis Street, from North 10th Avenue to North 2nd Avenue, and Knopf Street, from North 13th Avenue to North Main Street.
The borough will use the remaining $500,000 from the bond to resurface the two streets and will be reimbursed from the NJ Department of Transportation because the roads are covered by a $265,000 NJ DOT grant.
The ordinance shall be further considered at a meeting at 6:30 p.m. May 23.
