After a first place finish in the Tournament Indoor Association competition in Long Island on April 24, the HHS Winterguard traveled to Wildwood for the TIA All-Chapter competition, April 28-30.
The competition matched 23 of the best Scholastic A teams from several east coast states in the Wildwood Convention Center for the All-Chapters Championships.
The Hillsborough team competed Thursday night in the preliminary round and advanced to the Friday semi-final round. From there, they again continued their advance to the finals on Saturday night.
Before a packed house, they preformed this season’s show "I Can Only Imagine," earning a score of 89.9.
The girls placed third and took home the bronze medal, with only Northern York, Pa., High School, and Johnstown, Pa., High School scoring higher (with 90.2 points and 92.9, respectively).
"This was an incredible finish, considering that the team was moved up from Scholastic
AA to Scholastic A early in the season," parent John Hreno said. "Hillsborough was expected to take much longer to be competitive in the new division."
The post performance scene was full of emotion, as guard members tearfully embraced seniors Captain Nicole Hreno and Co-Captain Colleen Decker. This was their last performance with the HHS Winterguard after four years with the group.
