John W. Collom III will remain as mayor of Bordentown City with James Lynch and John Wehrmann serving as commissioners.
BORDENTOWN CITY A week after winning re-election in a non-partisan race, the three members of the City Commission Monday appointed themselves to the same positions they have held for the previous four years.
John W. Collom III, who served as mayor in his first term, will remain mayor for his second. Mayor Collom, who was sworn in Tuesday morning after returning from a trip to Nebraska, will remain the commissioner of finance and revenue. James Lynch, now serving his fifth term, will remain the commissioner of public safety and John Wehrmann, serving his third term, will again be commissioner of public works and recreation.
Every four years all seats on the three-member commission become open for election, and commission appointments last the entire four-year term.
Mayor Collom Tuesday said he expects the commission will continue working on the projects it has started, such as street repairs, parks and recreation facilities and the retooling of the city Master Plan. Otherwise, he said, the commissioners will stay ready for whatever might come up.
"Things come to you," Mayor Collom said. "We’ll play them as they come.
